The 1872 Moonphase Edition is the first in a series of timepieces introduced by Yellowstone Watch Company.
The 1872 represents the official date Yellowstone was designated as the first national park in the world, established by an act of Congress less than ten years after the Civil War.
The tallest mountains in Yellowstone, the Absarokas, formed 50 million years ago by eroded remnants of a massive volcanic extrusion; a reminder that Yellowstone sits atop a giant unstable caldera, the largest volcano in the world.
The concavities seen on the plateaus and slopes of the Absaroka Mountain range, called cirques, were sculpted by glacial ice and moisture-laden clouds. These rugged snow-topped mountains spanning the Yellowstone skyline, are expressly depicted on the 1872 Moonphase dial.
The Yellowstone Watch Company collection of timepieces is designed for a romanticized kind of life that captivates an allure of the American West, no matter where you hang your hat
