The Gallatin Edition introduced by Yellowstone Watch Company portrays the Gallatin Range with its high-altitude mountains, blue-ribbon trout streams, and hiking trails once traversed by Lewis and Clark in 1806.
Most notably, the Gallatin Range is named after Albert Gallatin, often described as “America’s Swiss Founding Father.”
Born in Geneva to an aristocratic Swiss family, Albert Gallatin emigrated from Switzerland to America in 1780 and became the longest serving US Secretary of State in US history serving under Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.
A true Renaissance Man, Albert Gallatin not only played a role in the Louisiana Purchase, but his impressive repertoire of accomplishments deems it befitting that a river, a mountain range, a national forest, a county in Montana, and a timepiece are named for him.
